“Had a problem with our opener rail and another broken hinge. Great service with nice workmen who serviced the whole door too. Very happy.”

Owner & Founder of California Overhead Door — over three decades in the trade on the Central Coast.

Eddie De Leon
Eddie De Leon got into garage doors by accident. Fresh out of high school, and just wanting to work, he applied for a millwork position at what he thought was a regular door company. He showed up early and eager, and said he could start right away. The next morning, Eddie was on a truck with a crew. It wasn’t until they pulled up to the first job site, that Eddie realized he was working for a garage door company and not a regular door company. He stayed working, put in more than 10 years with this company. What started as a mix-up turned into a career that’s now spanned across more than three decades.
After learning the trade on garage door installs in the late 80’s and early 90’s, Eddie managed a door company in the Bay Area. Afterwards, he returned to Hollister and founded his own company, California Overhead Door. He got licensed in 1996 and never looked back. Currently, Eddie still runs California Overhead Door today, alongside his wife, Maria De Leon. Eddie’s son, Jacob De Leon, learned the garage door trade, and worked in the business after school and during the summer until graduating from college. While growing up, Eddie’s daughter, Sophia De Leon, also worked after-school and during the summer as an Office Assistant, helping Eddie’s sister, Rosa Polanco run the front office. After Rosa’s passing in 2019, Sophia stepped in and is currently the Office Manager for the company. A family business in the truest sense, Eddie will be the first to tell you that door accident right out of high school turned out to be a true blessing.
Three decades in, Eddie has worked on just about every kind of door the Central Coast throws at him — from a single roll-up on a downtown shop to high-cycle industrial doors at fire stations and food plants, custom wood carriage doors on estate homes, and salt-air builds on the Monterey Peninsula. The company is family owned and operated, licensed for residential, commercial, and industrial work (California C-61/D-28), and known for giving people a straight answer — including when a door is worth repairing instead of replacing. That is the same honest, repair-first voice you will find in the guides Eddie writes for the blog.
Day to day, Eddie and his crew handle garage door repair and installation, spring and opener replacement, commercial and industrial overhead doors, fire-rated rolling doors with documented NFPA 80 drop testing, gate operators, and scheduled maintenance for homeowners, property managers, and HOAs across Hollister, Salinas, Monterey, Gilroy, Morgan Hill, and the surrounding Central Coast.
